Google's Android Wear, its operating system for its line of wearable tech, now officially supports watchface creation for third-party developers.
The support comes with a dedicated part of the Google Play Store marketplace and new tools for watchface developers.
Also included in the launch are official watchface apps from popular brands, partners and artists such as Pac Man, Hugh Turvey, Porsche, Red Bull, Rebeca Minkoff, Despicable Me and many more.
Recently, Apple also featured a Disney watchface during its launching event of its new Apple Watch.
Aside from the new Android Wear app to easily switch between watchfaces, the Watchface API is also made available for developers to experiment with.
In addition to the new update, Android Wear also receives improvements for wearables, including quick card recalling, recent actions prioritization, and a new quick settings interface, which can be accessed by simply swiping down from the watchface. A new theater mode option also comes with the update; the option makes sure the wearable's screen stays off and the vibration feature will also be disabled momentarily. Another new feature is the sunlight mode, which boosts the screen's brightness when required.
