Michael Douglas has voiced his thoughts on being part of Peyton Reed's upcoming "Ant-Man" sequel "Ant-Man and the Wasp."
Douglas played the role of Dr. Hank Pym, the discoverer of the Pym particles and the first Ant-Man, in Reed's "Ant-Man." In his interview with Collider, Douglas expressed his interest on reprising his role, along with praising the film's cast. He said that he had just gotten a call from the crew, negotiating him for a sequel and he had thought it was great.
Douglas also said that the cast had been fantastic, from Reed, Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, whom he described as a good villain, and Michael Peña, whom Douglas said to certainly return. While the actor hoped that he would not have as much "expositional dialogue" as the first film, Douglas said that being part of "Ant-Man" had been a lovely experience.
According to Screen Rant, the bond between Douglas, Rudd, and Lilly had been a huge factor in "Ant-Man's" appeal. The publication said that Douglas' Pym would be needed by Rudd's Scott Lang and Lilly's Hope van Dyne to assist them in their adventures in "Ant-Man and the Wasp," not to mention that Pym had just unveiled the Wasp suit he had created for his daughter in the mid-credits scene for "Ant-Man."
Aside from his role in Reed's "Ant-Man," Douglas is also known for his roles in Paul Verhoeven's mystery thriller "Basic Instinct," David Fincher's mystery thriller "The Game," and Joel Schumacher's drama thriller "Falling Down." The actor is also set to be part of Michael Apted's action thriller film "Unlocked."
Prior to his return as Lang/Ant-Man in Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man and the Wasp," Rudd is set to reprise his role in Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's "Captain America: Civil War."
Ant-Man is set to be part of Captain America's team, along with Hawkeye, Falcon, and Agent 13. They will be against Iron Man's team, which reportedly includes Black Widow, War Machine, The Vision, and Black Panther.
The Wasp's inclusion in the film is yet to be revealed. Spider-Man is also set to appear in the film; however, no information yet as to which side he is in.
Reed's "Ant-Man and the Wasp" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on July 6, 2018 while the Russos' "Captain America: Civil War" is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
