"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 star Ian Somerhalder is still urging his ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev to return to the hit The CW series.

According to Inquisitr, there have been rumors that Dobrev will return to the hit The CW series for its finale episode.

However, Somerhalder reportedly wants Dobrev to be part of the show as early as the latter part of season 7.

Meanwhile, executive producer Julie Plec recently said that there's still hope that Dobrev will return to the show as long as her other engagements will not be affected.

In other news, Dobrev and her current boyfriend Austin Stowell recently exchanged sweet tweets online.

There were some rumors that the actress only flirted with her boyfriend to slam rumors that she could go back to the series or her ex-boyfriend Somerhalder.

"Dobrev has been at the center of rumors that she will be returning for a short appearance in the upcoming season of 'The Vampire Diaries.' These reports, of course, naturally led to speculation that Dobrev may be using her new boyfriend in order to make Somerhalder jealous," the publication noted.

However, it seems that this isn't really the case because Dobrev and Stowell are really in love with each other.

At present, the couple has only been dating for four months. This means that their relationship still has a very long way to go, and so many things can still happen. The only thing that's certain right now is that the actress won't return to "The Vampire Diaries" anytime soon.
