"The Vampire Diaries" fans are unhappy and worried that Nina Dobrev's legacy as Elena Gilbert on the hit The CW show will be totally forgotten.
Just recently, it was revealed that "NCIS" star Leslie-Anne Huff has been cast to play the role of a vampire named Rayna.
According to TV Line, Rayna is a vicious vampire hunter who came back to Mystic Falls for vengeance.
The publication also revealed that Huff's character will appear starting on the show's 12th episode.
Meanwhile, fans couldn't help but notice the resemblance between Huff and Dobrev, according to Design N Trend.
In fact, this has caused them to question the executive producers' decision to cast Huff on the show.
During a previous interview, executive producer Julie Plec said that Dobrev will never be replaced on "The Vampire Diaries."
At that time, Plec was even hopeful that Dobrev will return to reprise her role as Elena in the upcoming episodes or seasons.
Now, it seems that everyone including Plec and Caroline Dries are ready to move on from Dobrev's Elena.
However, some fans of "The Vampire Diaries" and the character are still not ready to do so.
On the other hand, there are also some fans who believe that Huff's casting is very timely.
They also believe that it's possible Huff's Rayna will be paired with Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder).
The upcoming episode of "The Vampire Diaries" will focus on Damon and Stefan's (Paul Wesley) relationship with their mom Lily (Annie Wersching).
Elsewhere, Caroline (Candice Accola-King) and Stefan's relationship problems will also be addressed.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 airs Thursdays on The CW.
