Google is offering up to 1TB of free Google Drive storage space for Local Guides contributors.

Tech giant Google is promoting its Local Guides feature on Google Maps by encouraging users to post reviews and photos of restaurants, and in exchange reward them with 1TB worth of free storage on Google Drive.

The Local Guides feature on Google Maps is a service that provide users with reviews and details about local businesses, including restaurants. The feature works in the same way as Yelp, Foursquare and TripAdvisor.

To reward users who contribute to Local Guides, Google is offering up to 1TB of free Google Drive storage, which usually costs $9.99 per month, according to Time. Contributors can also get early access to new Google products and the chance to attend a reviewers' summit.

By contributing contents to Local Guides, contributors will earn points. The more points they earn, the bigger the bonuses they will receive.

Google instituted a five-tiered point system. Those at the lowest bracket can enter exclusive contests in selected countries. Contributors with five 49 points can get early access to new Google features and products.

Those in level 3 (50 - 199 points) will show up in Google Maps app with their respective Local Guides badge. Contributors in level 4 (200 - 499 points) will receive the 1TB upgrade on Google Drive where they can store contents for free.

The top level is reserved for contributors with more than 500 points. Those in the top level are eligible to apply for the Local Guides inaugural summit in 2016, they will also get the chance to explore the Google campus and receive the latest updates from Google Maps, according to Consumerist.
