Microsoft Surface Book Suffers Bent Display and Bezel Separation

| Nov 19, 2015 01:10 AM EST

Up until today, the specific release date for the Surface Book 2 is still unknown, but it is confirmed that the laptop would not be launched any time this year.

Microsoft Surface Book is reportedly suffering from scree-related issues like bent display and bezel separation.

Two Reddit users posted photos of the Surface Book citing screen defects. User OzzyBitcions claimed that the device's screen panel is pulling away from its casing to which it is attached. The user posted a photo to show the problem. The photo showed that the screen is separated from the gray metal casing.

The cause of problem is still unknown, but based on the posts of the user, it is probably due to the adhesive used to stick the two parts.

Another Reddit user tomburford said that his device is slightly warped from its original form. The photo that the user attached showed that the metal was bent, which is similar to the Apple's "bendgate" problem that plagued the iPhone 6.

These screen-related issues are no longer new as the aforementioned problems were previously spotted in the Microsoft Surface Pro 3.

Last year, the bending incident was prevalent that the company made a statement about it saying that the bending resulted from tight packaging afterward. Moreover, the box pressure experienced by the device led to the bending problem.

Microsoft has not officially addressed the issues of the Surface Book hybrid device.

Meanwhile, both Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book received the latest firmware updates aimed to resolve bugs and to improve the user experience. According to Win Beta, the Windows Update History includes:

  • Surface UEFI update (v88.870.770.0) improves system stability.

  • Precise Touch Device driver update (v1.1.0.217) provides touch optimizations.
  • Management Engine Interface driver update (v11.0.0.1172) provides touch optimizations.
  • Surface Touch Servicing ML driver update (v1.0.36.1) provides touch optimizations.
