"How To Get Away With Murder" actress Viola Davis has been cast for the final name for DC's "Suicide Squad" film. The Oscar nominee will be playing the character of Amanda Waller, who runs the squad of DC villains, according to Latino-Review.

Initially, there were three Hollywood stars being eyed to star as Waller in the movie, including Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis and popular talkshow host Oprah Winfrey.

However, the decision is not final yet as it will all depend on Davis' TV schedule. The soon-to-be Waller has an ongoing series "How To Get Away With Murder", in which she plays one of the lead characters Annalise Keating.

Davis is known for recent movies such as "Ender's Game" in 2013 and "The Help" in 2011.

Waller is one of DC's badass characters. In the DC Comics, Waller gives some DC super villains the chance to work for their freedom via top-secret missions that are considered suicidal due to the difficulty.

The "Suicide Squad" movie, which is slated for release on August 5, 2016, already revealed part of its cast. American singer, director and actor Jared Leto will be playing as the popular Batman villain Joker, Australian actress Margot Robbie will be playing Harley Quinn, Australian action star Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, English actress and fashion model Cara Delevingne as the Enchantress, "I Am Legend" star Will Smith as Deadshot and English actor Tom Hardy as Rick Flag.

DC fans have questioned the cast line-up of the upcoming 2016 movie as Tom Hardy already played a major Batman villain Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises" film in 2012.

David Ayers, who directs mostly action films, will be directing the "Suicide Squad" movie. Popular works from the writer director include Sabotage, Fury, End of Watch and Harsh Times.
