While Jennifer Lawrence has an Oscar and a big blockbuster franchise under her belt at just 25 years, filming her first-ever sex scene still left the young star feeling susceptible.
The actress dished on the experience, which she regarded "weird," during The Hollywood Reporter's 2015 Actress Roundtable.
Lawrence admitted, "I had my first real sex scene a couple weeks ago [while shooting Passengers with Chris Pratt], and it was really bizarre." Although she said, "everything was done right" on the series of the romantic sci-fi drama, it was still a "Bizarre experience."
The actress had to get herself very drunk in readiness for the scene.
"But then that led to more anxiety when I got home because I was like, 'What have I done? I don't know," Lawrence added. "And he was married. And it was going to be my first time kissing a married man, and guilt is the worst feeling in your stomach. And I knew it was my job, but I couldn't tell my stomach that."
The experience left the 25-year-old actress feeling very vulnerable because she pointed out that it is difficult to know what is too much. Lawrence acknowledged that she wanted to do it really and wanted everything to be real, but then "that was the most vulnerable I've ever been."
The other actress who chatted with Lawrence included Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Kate Winslet, and Charlotte Rampling, People reported. During the extensive round table, the actresses opened up about gender equality in Hollywood, something Lawrence addressed in her October wage gap report.
Lawrence said that there is always a backlash in everything done, but it does not stop or change anything.
"And it's not only an issue in Hollywood. When you're asking about roles for men and women, men certainly have a longer shelf life," she added. "Men can play the sexy lead for 20 years longer than we can ... Across all fields, women are generally paid 21 percent less than men."
