Baby Wearing Mother's Hat

A picture of a baby wearing the state police hat of her mother who was killed by the vehicle of a person who was allegedly drinking and driving, has gone viral. Trooper Jaimie Jursevics was investigating a car crash while on duty when the vehicle struck her, and she was pronounced dead at the scene of the hit and run. The heartbreaking Facebook photo of her infant daughter was posted by the Colorado county sheriff's office where the police officer worked.

Its powerful yet tragic post shows Jursevics' eight-month-old daughter Morgan trying on her mother's hat, according to TheJournal.ie. Items of her Mom's uniform surround the infant.

The Facebook post warns that people who plan on driving after drinking a "few beers" should look at the girl in the photograph, according to NBC4i. The reason is she will not grow up with her mother.

The post then explains that Colorado State Patrol Trooper Jursevics had died after being hit by a drunk driver's vehicle. It asks the rhetorical question, "Is it worth it?"

A retired U.S. Army captain who was accused of drinking alcohol at a Denver Broncos NFL game and then driving home has been bonded out of jail. Police reports claim that his vehicle hit Jursevics on his way home, and then he drove off.

Every day, nearly 30 people in the United States die in motor vehicle accidents that involve drivers who are Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). The yearly total cost of alcohol-related crashes is over $59 billion.

A page at the GoFundMe crowdfunding site has been set up to provide financial assistance for the Jursevics family.
