‘DWTS’ Season 21 Finale: What Made Bindi Irwin Cry, Hug Derek Hough

The late Steve Irwin is the father of Bindi Irwin and Robert Irwin and the husband of Terri Irwin.

The first part of the two-night "Dancing With the Stars" season 21 was emotional with Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough's freestyle dance. After the dance routine, the Australian teenager was surprised to see a photo of her late father Steve Irwin.

It was Hough was who responsible for the surprise. After their freestyle dance titled "Footprints in the Sand," a photo of the late "Crocodile Hunter" star appeared on a stage screen, which brought the surprised teenager now dubbed the young dance floor queen.

Steve died after receiving a stingray barb to the heart in 2006 while filming for his Bindi's TV show "Bindi the Jungle Girl." He was 44.

On Nov. 23, Monday, Hough took to Instagram to share a photo of their freestyle dance with the caption, "Footprints in the sand. Never alone. So proud of this beautiful soul. @bindisueirwin #teamcrikey."

Bindi also took to Instagram to share the last photo ever taken of herself with her mother Terri Irwin, her brother Robert Irwin and her late father.

Overcome by her emotions, Bindi hugged Hough. Backstage, she cried again as she was explaining how the entire "DWTS" season 21 experience had changed her life.

Bindi and Hough received perfect 30 out of 30 scores from the judges for their two dance routines in the first part of the "DWTS" season 21 finals. Like Bindi, the judges and the audiences were also in tears.

To win the Mirrorball trophy, Bindi will battle it out in the second part of the two-night "DWTS" season 21 with American army hero Alek Skarlatos and Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter on Nov. 24, Tuesday.
