Justin Bieber draws flak online when he wore a Nirvana shirt at the recent American Music Awards. This is not the first time that the "Sorry" singer wore the band shirt and fans were not at all happy.

In an interview with Esquire, Bieber's stylist Karla Welch came to the singer's defense. The 21-year-old is often spotted wearing long shirts, band tees and ripped jeans. Welch explained that Bieber has long had a penchant for wearing long shirts even on his last tour. She pointed out that some fans may just be noticing it right now.

Welch added that Bieber has a collection of vintage tees. The one he wore at AMAs was from Fear of God, which cost approximately $1,480. The stylist wondered why Bieber has been getting criticism from social media.

"I'm sure Kurt Cobain would be like-I mean I can't speak for him, obviously-but I don't think he was so snotty or that he would diss anyone who appreciated his music," she pointed out.

Courtney Love Cobain also came to Bieber's defense. She tweeted, "You're cool in my book @justinbieber."

Welch also shared that Bieber has always been very hands on when it comes to choosing his clothes. She said that the singer has always had an idea of what he wants to wear and did not care what others may think.

When Bieber posted a photo of him wearing a Nirvana shirt on Instagram, fans of the band immediately criticized the singer. Some speculated that Bieber was only trying to look cool and did not even know a single Kurt Cobain song.
