Thanksgiving Day And Black Friday: Check These Retailer Stores Hours During Holidays

| Nov 25, 2015 09:07 AM EST

There are retail stores closed on Thanksgiving day, a reverse trend to offer services and discounts.

Some of the popular retailers are closed during Thanksgiving, which retail experts call it a reverse trend.

A number of stores including Nordstrom, Marshalls and Costco decided to scrap the tradition to start Black Friday deals on Thanksgiving to give way in spending time with the family on this special occasion. According to the National Retail Federation, shoppers in 2014 spent six percent less than the year before during the four-day Thanksgiving shopping weekend, despite stores opening earlier than ever.

GameStop will not operate on Thanksgiving but its doors will be open on Black Friday as early as 5:00 a.m. Costco and Sam's Club will be closed as well on Thanksgiving, and operate on Black Friday at 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. respectively. Jo-Ann fabric and Craft Stores will not be opened on Nov. 26, but will start Black Friday as early as 6:00 a.m., according to ABC News

However, there are still retail stores that opt to provide their services during Thanksgiving until Black Friday.

RadioShack will open at 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving, while Toys R Us will operate from 5:00 p.m. of Thanksgiving open all night into Black Friday. Both like J.C. Penney Co. and Macy’s Inc. will be open on Thanksgiving at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. respectively, Wall Street Journal reported.

Earlier this month, Target announced it will open the stores at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, which is similar in 2014. Target and Walmart Stores Inc. have started opening on Thanksgiving three years ago to better compete with online retailers and other competitors.
