Thanksgiving is all about spending quality time with the family.  There are many movies that relate to a family setting, but here three highly recommended Thanksgiving movies:

1. "Planes, Trains and Automobiles"

Starring Steve Martin and John Candy, “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” is an apt movie to watch this Thanksgiving Day because it reminds everyone about the transportation mayhem and delays involved in getting home for the Thanksgiving weekend, according to Huffington Post. In this film, Steve Martin, an eager father who wants to spend the special holiday with his family in Chicago, gets stuck with the "near-manic" John Candy.

2. "Rocky I"

“Rocky I” may be a little cliche for the holiday season, but it is still a favorite among many movie lovers. Rocky brings out all the gore and thrill that Sylvester Stallone can muster, which makes the film a Thanksgiving movie pick for the guys. The ending is especially emotional when he calls out to his girlfriend Adrienne. No doubt, Rocky may be all about boxing but it also goes to show what family support can accomplish.

For many 40-something holiday watchers, "Rocky I" will have an element of nostalgia.  It can be just as thrilling to watch it again even if you have memorized the lines. This is not a movie to be overlooked when it comes to relationships in the family.

3. "Addams Family Values"

Another Thanksgiving Day movie that is fun for everyone is "Addams Family Values." There are plenty of belly-laughs to be had, while watching this Thanksgiving movie and it might help you digest some of those extra calories from the Thanksgiving meal. There is only one way to describe this Thanksgiving play recorded on celluloid and that is macabre fun, according to The Guardian
