After the ALS Bucket Challenge, the latest online craze too hit the internet is the #CondomChallenge. However, like the ALS craze which caused some accidents, this one too places participants at the risk of suffocating and drowning.

The challenge has a friend dropping a tied-off condom filled with water on the head of another person who is seated on the edge of a bathtub. The condom is supposed to stay there and snugly wrap around the head and engulf the face, reports the New York Daily News.

The result is a bubble effect which some people find funny. The condom is also supposed to pop when touched. However, at least one young woman shared on social media that she almost suffocated while she was doing the challenge.

The challenge is possibly the brainchild of condom makers since Durex, through Volker Sydow, was quoted as saying, "Durex believes in happier, healthier sex lives and World AIDS Day is a hugely significant reminder about the importance of safe sex."

However, Huffington Post reports that it was first done on Nov. 16 by two Japanese men who tweeted a video of how to do the challenge. The tweet has more than 9,000 likes and another 9,000 retweets. A Condom Challenge official Twitter account was also created, although posts of it are also seen on other social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram.

The aim of the challenge to promote safe sex by attempting to debunk the myth that a man with a large penis could not fit into a condom since a human head could fit into it, according to The Medical Daily.

In 2013, there was another online craze wherein people posted videos of themselves pulling condoms from their noses.
