Seagate unveiled the ultra-thin The Seven, their latest in storage technology amid the display of the latest in technology and gadgets like tablets, HDTVs, and smartphones at the International Consumer Electronics Show.
The storage giant released their latest pair on portable hard drives that is likely to get great attention from techies and computer whiz.
The Sevenmm model is to address the bulk of many external hard drives. Its name was contained from its svelte dimensions of a mere 7mm thickness with all steel enclosure. Seagate name is as "the world's slimmest portable hard drive" since it weighs only 0.2 pounds, it doesn't need a dedicated power supply as it gets its juice from its 3.0 USB connection.
The 500 Gigabyte Seven has a braided USB cable called "premium" by Seagate, according to ZDnet.
Also, the hard drive also has with it pre-installed Seagate Dashboard software for users to utilize its automatic backup capability. It can be used for their Android smart phones and is also applicable to IOS phones.
The Seven has been given a high end look and exposure, thus, would appear highly and pricey. However, it is hardly a bank breaker. Its portable hard drives are now available for pre orders for only US$99.95.
Another breakthrough is the Seagate 500 gigabyte Wireless hard drive. This is another gadget to look forward to as it allows users to load files in it using its Wi-Fi signal capability. No need for any other connection to be able to access data from it.
Seagate claims that the battery life of the wireless hard drive can last up to 6 hours, and will let you connect up to 3 gadgets or smart phones at a time by using the Seagate Media app. The app is available to IOS, Windows and Android mobile users.
The portable Wireless drive has a 2.0 USB only, but has the capacity to transfer files to gadgets easily. It is readily available for pre orders at a cost of US$129.99.
