NBA Trade Rumors: Dwight Howard-De Andre Jordan Swap Projected As Rockets Want More Reliable Defender

Los Angeles Clippers' De Andre Jordan (L) blocks Houston Rockets' Dwight Howard.

Dwight Howard's career has been on a downward spiral ever since he left Orlando in 2011-2012 and he could use a new environment to revitalize it. Rumors were out that he is "unhappy" in Houston right now and a trade with the Clippers for De Andre Jordan is projected to happen anytime in midseason.

Sir Charles in Charge's Michael Saenz predicted that scenario as the Rockets are "off to a rocky start this season", settling at the 10th spot in the stacked Western Conference with a 7-11 record and out of the playoffs if it would begin right now.

Aside from his recurring knee and back problems, the eight-time All-Star's play is being hampered by his current dismal relationship with Houston's best player James Harden and his discontent with the direction the team is going, as per Sports Blog's NBA Innovative Coverage.

Firing head coach Kevin McHale is anticipated to just be the first move by the Rockets' front office in an attempt to "jump start this team" and there could be more to come this season especially when the mid-December trade restriction to recently signed free agents is lifted.

Basketball Insider's Steve Kyler tweeted that trading Howard "is not out of the realm of possibility" for Houston because of chemistry issues regarding Harden.

Meanwhile, the Clippers are also struggling to play toward Doc Rivers' championship vision and is rumored to be on the verge of a "shakeup", also according to Saenz.

Perhaps, Howard is the last piece Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are waiting for to finally break through to the West Finals, but they will have to let go of Jordan for it to become a reality.
