Ron Howard's "In the Heart of the Sea" stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Holland.

"Thor: Ragnarok" actor Chris Hemsworth and "Spider-Man" actor Tom Holland traversed River Thames with a ship while director Ron Howard shared his insights on their upcoming film "In The Heart of Sea".

According to Express UK, Hemsworth and Holland are sailing up the Thames to promote Ron Howard's upcoming action adventure film "In the Heart of the Sea," as the film premiered in London's Leicaster Square.

Hemsworth plays ship veteran first mate Owen Chase while Holland plays the role of young seaman Tom Nickerson. Bredan Gleeson plays Nickerson, 30 years after the event, while Benjamin Walker plays the inexperienced ship captain, George Pollard. Cillian Murphy plays second mate Matthew Joy while Ben Whishaw plays novelist Herman Melville, who seeks enlightenment by inquiring about the incident 30 years later.

In his interview with Warner Bros. press (via Star Friday), Howard explained that the two Nickersons had given the audience a chance to explore individual aspects of the story that are both interesting and emotional. The filmmaker added that there was the danger and the excitement of the adventure seen through the eyes of a boy and the trauma of the tragedy as had remembered by the man.

The actors also reportedly had to lose a considerable amount of weight during film production. Hemsworth explained to the press that in the film, the men had been lost at sea for months, so by the time any of them had been found, they had been basically just skin and bones.

The "Thor: Ragnarok" actor added that they had been eating minimal amounts of food, but they had kept reminding themselves that it had been nothing compared to what they had suffered. For Hemsworth, they had all banded together to keep morale up and distract them from how hungry they had been.

Holland also told the press that there was no stronger glue that getting a bunch of guys to lose weight together. For the "Spider-Man" actor, it had helped forge a bond between them on the set, which had been important.

Based on Nathaniel Philbrick's novel entitled "In the Heart of the Sea: The tragedy of the Whaleship Essex," Howard's "In the Heart of the Sea" centers on the ship Essex, which was preyed upon by a sperm whale, leaving the ship's crew stranded in the sea for 90 days, thousands of miles from home. Along with Howard as the film director, Charles Leavitt was in charge in writing the film screenplay.

Meanwhile, Hemsworth will also reprise his role as Thor in Taika Waititi's "Thor: Ragnarok" while Holland is set to debut Spider-Man to Marvel's Cinematic Universe in Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's "Captain America: Civil War" before his appearance in Jon Watts' solo "Spider-Man" film.

Following its debut in the United Kingdom on Dec. 2, Howard's "In the Heart of the Sea" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Dec. 11. The Russo's "Captain America: Civil War" premieres on May 6, 2016. Waititi's "Thor: Ragnarok" is set to premiere on Nov. 3, 2017 while Watts' "Spider-Man" hits theaters on July 28, 2017.
