BlackBerry Priv Update: OTA Update Brings Camera Recalibration, Non-Freezing System Performance, Android Apps Enhancement; 475MB Storage Requirement

BlackBerry Priv is a slider smartphone developed by BlackBerry Limited.

BlackBerry Priv first ever official OTA update is released and will offer stability, security, and productivity improvements. As previously reported, the firmware update comes with December's security patches designed to protect the smartphone from Android threats.

BlackBerry Ltd. is keeping its promise of routinary security updates for the slider smartphone. The first over-the-air update for the Priv has started rolling out, NDTV Gadgets reported.

Priv smartphone units that are bought straight from ShopBlackBerry were the first ones to receive the OTA update on Dec. 1. Carrier-bought Priv units, on the other hand, will get the update starting on Dec. 7.

BlackBerry Priv firmware update will recalibrate the camera for augmented speed and higher quality image production in low-light, according to the official website of BlackBerry. The update will also optimize the smartphone's general system performance as well as increase its stability to avoid crashing and freezing.

In addition, BlackBerry is also set to give an update on its Android applications such as the BlackBerry Camera,  BlackBerry Hub and and Contacts, BlackBerry Keyboard , as well as the DTEK. Added language support and emojis will come to the Keyboard application, while the Camera application will now be able to support 16:9 photos.

Hub and Contacts is getting DTEK by BlackBerry and  WhatsApp and will come with additional notification options. The said updates can be downloaded through Google Play Store.

Blackberry assured that the Priv smartphones will be receiving monthly security patches and updates. BlackBerry Priv users can now download and install the over-the-air update for the BlackBerry for free. Users will have to have at least 475 MB memory space to be able to complete the download.
