"People are narcissists and they want people to see what they think are their amazing lives," Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey said during a recent appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 in Las Vegas.

Technology is apparently playing a role in modern psychology as a new study reveals that men who posted more selfies online than others are more likely to be narcissistic and psychopathic. Lead study author Jesse Fox said it is unsurprising that men who spend more time editing selfies before posting are narcissistic but it is the first time a study has actually confirmed it.

According to Luckey, Facebook is not likely to be the social network in VR and "looking at a larger than life News Feed or someone's photos in VR isn't interesting" because it has to be new experience.

In 2014, Facebook bought Luckey's company for $2 billion with the Oculus Rift headset has re-igniting interest in VR. Gaming has been the primary focus of Oculus while 360-degree videos are emerging as some developers' second area of interest.

The first use for the now Facebook-owned company's Oculus Rift headset may be video games although they are not its end game. Luckey regards VR as an extension of gaming, which is the only industry that has the set of tools and skills that VR required.

Oculus has launched their latest Rift Crescent Bay prototype at CES 2015. The unit is still identical to what was shown at the Connect developer conference of the company in 2014. On the other hand, there seem to be new features that are not readily noticed.

One of the hidden things in the headphones is the 3D positional audio, which is key to virtual reality immersion according to Oculus.

Before the consumer version of the Oculus Rift commonly called the CV1is launched, the Oculus Audio SDK would be available to developers of the Rift DK2 and Samsung's Gear VR, Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe told Road To VR.
