The flaw gave attackers and hackers the ability to tamper with the mobile device through malicious files, such as MMS messages and videos, and finally taking control over the device.

Sony has released the update that fixes the "Stagefright" bug giving back the users their piece of mind on the vulnerability of their personal device. The update has been released for the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 tablet and other selected devices, still leaving millions of other Sony devices vulnerable. A fix for the other handsets is also eminent and is expected to come pretty soon.

The latest updated comes with build number 23.4.A.1.264, making the selected set of devices immune to the Stagefright vulnerability. With the increasing level of threats, especially regarding the user's privacy and sensitive data, the security experts advised the users to install the update as soon as possible, and google too has also released a patch to its partners.

The fix comes as a part of the Android OS v5.1.1 Lollipop, keeping the users' mobile device safe and secure from the most spoken "Stagefright" vulnerability.
