The 32-year-old son of global celebrity Jackie Chan, Jaycee Chan, was sentenced to six months in prison and a 2,000 yuan fine (approximately $430) at the end of Friday's court case.

In addition to testing positive for illicit drugs, Jaycee was found guilty of supporting the drug use of others by hosting them inside his Beijing apartment.

Well known for his comedy and martial arts acting work in numerous motion pictures, including the highly successful "Rush Hour" franchise, the perpetrator's father, Jackie, has been adamant to the public that he has not used his influence to sway the course of the case. Since being arrested, the actor's son has been held in a detention center.

After his first appearance in a Chinese court in August of last year, Jaycee arrived at Beijing Dongcheng District People's Court early on Friday morning. The case was witnessed by around 100 others, including congressmen, news journalists, staff members from Jaycee's management company, and members of the public.

The details of the charges were presented before the court. The defendant admitted to the occurrence of four separate drug-taking sessions at his residence: once in 2012, then July 10, and Aug. 13-14 of 2014.

Taiwanese actor Kai Ko was present on three of the occasions, which, according to China Entertainment News, involved cannabis and was undertaken in Jaycee's "luxurious apartment." On Aug. 14, Chinese celebrity Alice Lin visited the apartment for the same activity.

In his statement to the court, Jaycee made a commitment regarding the future: "When I am released, I will never commit the same mistake again because I've let my family and friends down."
