Google Play Movies And TV App

Google has updated the iOS version of its Play Movies & TV app with support for AirPlay streaming via the Apple TV.

Apple TV owners can now watch all those movies and TV shows in their Google Play account on HDTV. Previously, the app only allows the users to beam content to the big screen with Google's Chromecast device.

In addition, Google Play Movies and TV iOS update also allow users to stream content in high definition, as well as over a cellular network when they do not have Wi-Fi. The app is also getting a fresh new design, recommendations from Google Play, and the ability to search and wishlist any movie from the Play catalog.

Also, new feature also means that users can stream content from Google’s huge library of titles from their iPhones and iPads as well, Digital Trends reported.

Google’s addition of AirPlay support to the app appears to be a surprise because there has been tight competition between the companies’ digital media streamers and mobile devices. However, there are a huge number of iPhone and iPad users, making it worth it to Google to tap into the market.

In order to get the AirPlay support, it requires a third-generation Apple TV or fourth generation Apple TV running software 7.0 or higher, according to MacWorld.

Meanwhile, Google also updated its Chromecast Audio dongle with a boost of Hi-Res audio and multi-room support. Users can now listen to the same song on multiple speakers throughout the home. The $35 device has proven to be successful recently, topping third quarter's non-gaming digital media streaming device sales.
