Chromecast Audio will also supports music files up to 24bit/96kHz in quality over Wi-Fi.

Tech giant Google is launching a new promotional offer in order to entice people into buying the Chromecast device this holiday season. The Mountain View-based company said that those who purchase a Chromecast starting Dec. 15 up until Jan. 12 will be eligible for a $20 Google Play credit.

The good thing about Google's newest promotional strategy is that it applies to all retailers and online shops. Interested buyers can go shopping online or on physical stores and they will be eligible for the Google Play credit.

According to PC Mag, regular retail price of the Google Chromecast ranges from $30 to $35, depending on the retailer.

The Google Play credit offer is also available for the redesigned second-generation Chromecast and the new Chromecast Audio device. The latter is a multi-room device which can be plugged into most speaker or audio system to avail wireless streaming features.

The second-generation Chromecast was released this fall and features a new look as well as an upgraded Chromecast app. The dongle supports streaming of 1080p HD videos. Unfortunately, it does not support 4K UHD content yet.

On the other hand, the Chromecast Audio sports a 3.5mm port which is compatible with most speakers and audio systems. The device also supports RCA and digital optical connection through an adaptor. Chromecast Audio is compatible with online streaming services such as Pandora, Google Play Music, TuneIn, Spotify and iHeartRadio. Unfortunately for iOS users, the device does not support Apple Music.

Interested buyers can head over to the Google Store to purchase the Chromecast device, but they are required to download the Chromecast App in order to be eligible to redeem the Google Play credit, according to Digital Trends.
