"System Shock 3" is officially in development.
Over a decade ago, "System Shock" was released for both PC and Mac by the Looking Glass Technologies. It allowed players to play the role of an unnamed hacker in the year 2072, trapped aboard a space station with SHODAN, an artificial intelligence.
The unnamed character's goal is to stop SHODAN and save humanity. The said artificial intelligence, on the other hand, would come back as villain of "System Shock 2." However, her fate was left a mystery, IGN reported.
"System Shock" has been announced by Night Dive Studios earlier this year, Screen Rant reported. The plans to remake it captured the interests of the crowd, especially after "System Shock: Enhanced Edition" was released. When asked if there's a chance of introducing a new installment in the franchise, Night Dive said that the team wasn't big enough to undertake it but they're also seeing the probability to take on the task.
The "System Shock 3" has been officially announced by OtherSide Entertainment. They said that they are already developing it in partnership with Night Dive. They even launched a teaser website a week ago. The site has been also updated with SHODAN's message. The said message is truly a sweet treat for avid fans as it confirms the voice of the actor Terri Brosius with her role as the malevolent artificial intelligence.
In the "System Shock 3," OtherSide also confirmed that a lot of multi-talented people who helped renewing the "System Shock" will also be returning to this project.
"System Shock 3" release date has not been confirmed yet, but OtherSide confirmed that the game is in progress.
