Light bulb maker Cree jumped into the IOT market with the launch of their smart bulb which is controlled by iOS and Android devices. The light bulb maker joined the revolution to upgrade home living by the Internet Of Things platform.
Cree's latest breakthrough, the Connected Cree LED Bulb, is a 60-watt smart bulb that comes with a compatible Wink or ZigBee system that allows the user to control and manage home lighting using an Apple iOS or Google Android device regardless of the user's location. The light maker's intelligent bulb will be available for sale online at the initial price of $15 per piece. The smart bulb will also be available at any local Home Depot shops before the month ends, according to PC Mag.
"We are excited to support the Connected Cree LED Bulb, as it complements Wink's mission to make the connected home accessible," Brett Worthington, General Manager of Wink stated.
According to Cree, users will be able to manage their light bulbs by adjusting its brightness or dimness, and also schedule to turn lights on or off anytime of the day for an added security when people are away from the house, EWeek reported.
Cree officials state that the connected bulb give users a more secure feeling being able to control home devices at any given time. It is a different experience of security at an affordable price, according to Betty Noonan, Cree's Chief Marketing Officer.
Cree is one of the many companies that are getting involved with the Internet Of Things platform. According to Cisco Systems officers, the growing number of gadgets and devices being connected together with the IOT system will reach from 25 billion in 2014 to over 50 billion by 2020.
