Simon Cowell said that former One Directioner Zayn Malik's claims rude.
The "The X Factor UK" judge did not like Malik's claims about his reasons of leaving his former band One Direction, according to The Mirror. In an interview with the publication on Dec. 20, Sunday, the talent judge gave his opinion about the 22-year-old artist's claims.
"It is a bit rude to the people who wrote all the hits with them and to the other band members. I mean they all wrote a lot of the stuff," Cowell said.
According to Fader, in an interview with former 1D member for its December/January issue, Malik said he left the band because he was not given a chance to experiment creatively in music for the band. Aside from that, Malik called 1D's music generic.
"There was never any room for me to experiment creatively in the band," said Malik. "If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as f---, so they could use that version," he added.
Malik's co-writing credits for 1D is 11 while Niall Horan is credited with co-writing seven songs, Harry Styles with 24, Liam Payne with 36, and Louis Tomlinson with 38.
Meanwhile, the former 1D member was rumored dating a fashion model Gigi Hadid. The dating rumor started when the 22-year-old artist posted an image of him and Hadid cuddling on Instagram. Both of them have not confirmed the rumor.
