Bad News For Adele's Fans: ‘Someone Like You’ Hitmaker's Third Album May Not Be Released In 2015

Adele will soon release her long-awaited studio album

It had been speculated that British singer-songwriter "Someone Like You" hitmaker Adele would be released this January following the patterns of her two previous albums. Her first album "19" was released on Jan. 28, 2008 and her second album "21" was released on Jan. 19, 2011.

However, sources told Music Business Worldwide  that Adele is taking her time and there is no guarantee that her third album will arrive in 2015. The sources said that Adele's choice to push back the release of her third album is supported by all parties working with her including American label Columbia, British label XL/Beggars and management company September.

"The album will be released when it's ready," one of the sources said. "Hope that will be at some stage in 2015. That's all I can tell you right now."

In 2014, XL noted in a report sent to regulators indicating their $15 million net profit for 2014 that "there will not be a further new release by Adele during 2014 and consequently there will be a fall in XL's turnover and profits," the New York Times reported.

Also noted in the report is that in 2013, Adele's back catalogue accounted for a "significant proportion of the sales and profit."

As she turned 26 on May 4,  2014, Adele tweeted, "Bye bye 25... See you again later in the year," which seemed to hint her follow-up to her Grammy-winning second album "21" would be released in 2014.

Half-owned by a mini-conglomerate of independent labels called Beggars Group, XL has yet to release further comment on Adele's upcoming third album.
