Miss Montenegro Says Sorry To Pia Wurtzbach; Filipino Fans Still Angry

| Dec 27, 2015 04:44 PM EST

Maja Cucik represented Montenegro during the Miss Universe 2015 beauty pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Miss Montenegro Maja Cukic was one of those who supported Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez after the Miss Universe 2015 crown was taken away from her by Paulina Vega and was transferred to the rightful owner, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines.

Filipino fans were not happy about how Cukic tried to stop Wurtzbach from approaching Gutierrez after the Miss Universe 2015 crown was given to the Filipino beauty queen. Because of this, the beauty pageant organization of Montenegro issued a statement through their Facebook account on Dec. 26, Saturday.

"Dear all, Congratulations on Pia Wurtzbach title of Miss Universe 2015," the organization wrote. "The girl is beautiful ,worthy to bear the title of most beautiful girl and with her behavior and beauty to be an example for all girls around the world. We are sorry that a technical error that occurred in the live program caused unpleasant comments at the expense of her title."

The organization added, "The whole misunderstanding had stressful affect all contestants, especially to Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines. We apologize to the fans and organizers of the Miss Philippines due to unintentional gesture of our representatives, Miss Montenegro. Miss Montenegro organization."

Still, most of the Filipino fans were not happy mainly because it was the organization and not Cukic herself who asked for apology. Wurtzbach has yet to respond to the statement from the beauty pageant organization of Montenegro.

Meanwhile, Wurtzbach was spotted strolling alone with no makeup an no bodyguard along Columbus Circle in New York City on Dec. 25, Friday, TMZ reported.

Shortly after winning Miss Universe 2015, Wurtzbach shared that Gutierrez was crying and there was a crowd of girls around her trying to comfort. One of them was Miss Montenegro, who looked at Wurtzbach for several seconds, then turned and walked away shaking her head, as seen in the Facebook video posted by Missosology.

"I was actually very close to her already," Wurtzbach told Entertainment Tonight. "But I decided that maybe it was bad timing to do it now to apologize to her for what happened, so maybe I'll do that in the future."
