Fresh information on Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Xiaomi smartphones indicates that the update is in final testing stage for Mi 3, Mi 4 and Mi Note smartphones.

The operations manager for MIUI has revealed on Weibo that the Android 6.0 upgrade is in final stage of testing for the aforementioned smartphones, Gizmo China reported. He is the same operations manager who had previously announced that Mi 4 and Mi Note devices will be receiving Android 6.0 upgrade in December. However, at that time, he had not mentioned about Android 6.0 upgrade for Mi 3 handset.

Even though Xiaomi will be releasing the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Mi 3, Mi 4, and Mi Note, the update will not feature a newer MIUI user interface. This indicates that the Android 6.0 will be customized with MIUI 7 interface.

There is no information as on Android 6.0 upgrade for Xiaomi Mi Note Pro that was launched alongside Mi Note at the start of 2015. A leaked screenshot that has surfaced has revealed that the update weighs 518 MB.

Previously, when Xiaomi had released in the MIUI 7 ROM based on Android 4.4 KitKat, users were not happy with its performance. One of the main reasons behind it was that it was not based on the Android 5.0 Lollipop, BGR reported.

The upcoming ROM will bring along newer themes, a wallpaper feature for the lock screen and child lock for apps. Xiaomi Mi 5, the company's much awaited flagship smartphone is heavily rumored to get announced soon. It will be arriving with the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS preinstalled. The Mi 5 rumors suggest that it will release in January or February 2016.
