Canadian singer Celine Dion performs on stage at the Stade de Geneve in Geneva July 9, 2008.

Celine Dion, 47, surprised her audience during her concert on Dec. 31, 2015 by performing Adele's song "Hello." Her audience cheered eagerly when Adele was mentioned during the New Year's Eve concert.

"So don't panic," Just Jared quoted Dion as saying during the concert. "She's not in the building."

Before singing "Hello," Dion said, "Do we need to change the battery? My microphone lost it a little bit. Adele, hello? Hello?"

After singing the first verse of "Hello" and the song's first chorus, Dion did some adlibbing. She even included a Happy New Year greeting in the lyrics.

Based on the comments on social media, not everyone is happy with Dion's cover of Adele's "Hello." Most of them pointed out that they love Dion as a singer but they believe that no one can sing "Hello" better than Adele does.

Co-written by Adele and her producer Greg Kurstin, "Hello" was released by XL Recordings on Oct. 23, 2015, as the lead single from her third studio album titled "25." The song reached number one in 28 countries.

The "25" album is still in the top spot of the Official Albums Chart for its sixth week, which also makes it the first top album of 2016. In December 2015, the album passed 2 million sales in record time and it leads the tally 6,000 sales ahead of the number two album, which is "If I Can Dream" by Elvis Presley.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time Dion covered a song by Adele. Dion sang Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" at another performance in 2012 saying, "I love Adele so much. She's amazing."
