CEO of Blackberry John Chen gave some hints about a new android phone which they may launch this year.

Blackberry, the pioneers of business phones, is still struggling to find their market share in the smartphone business. Blackberry launched its first android smartphone PRIV back in November with flagship specifications. Recently, CEO of Blackberry John Chen gave some hints about a new android phone which they may launch this year, according to Bloomberg.

Rumors suggest that the phone will not be another flagship, but rather a mid-range phone so that more people can afford the upcoming Blackberry device. Sources suggest that Blackberry is trying to improve the market share by making their devices available for the all economic categories.

Bloomberg reports that the release of this smartphone depends solely on the success of the already launched flagship. The new smartphone would be code named as Vienna. Some renders of the smartphone has already came up, suggesting an authentic Blackberry design.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the phone will be a mid-ranged phone. The specs about camera sensors of the new phone are not clear but unofficial sources states that it will be packed with 8 mega pixel primary sensor and 2 megapixel front cam with wide angle lens. Other specifications of the phone are still unclear; however, the Smartphone will feature a hardware keyboard like the Blackberry PRIV, which is a Blackberry highlight.

Chen also added that Blackberry is planning to combine "the best of blackberry" into the android platform. If the strategy succeeds, tech consumers may see more phones in coming years; however, if it fails to succeed, the company will fold its hardware division and will focus on the security services and other mobile software.
