China Lion recently bought the rights to screen "Running Man" and "Somewhere Only We Know" as a major leap in the company's direction toward world distribution.

China Lion, one of China's major film distributors, recently bought the rights to screen Wanda Media Group's "Running Man" and Hong Kong's Distribution Workshop's "Somewhere Only We Know" for screening in North America and Australia and New Zealand. The move is considered a major leap in the company's direction toward world distribution.

The screening schedule for "Running Man" is on Jan. 29 in New Zealand and Australia, and Jan. 30 in Canada and the United States.

"Somewhere Only We Know" will be screened on Feb. 12 in New Zealand and Australia, and Feb. 13 in Canada and the United States.

Both releases will be day-and-date, making it possible for viewers across the world to be able to watch the movies in the same days as audiences from China.

"Running Man" is a movie spin-off based on the Korean reality TV show. It stars Wang Baoqiang ("Lost in Thailand"), Zheng Kai ("So Young"), Li Chen ("Aftershock"), Angelababy ("Love on the Cloud") and the Korean TV star King Jong-Kook.

"Somewhere Only We Know" will be China Lion Film's biggest release to date as it is scheduled to be screened on the dates covering Valentines' Day and Chinese New Year.

The movie is directed and co-written by Xu Jinglei and takes place in Prague. It stars Claudia Wang, Gordon Alexander and former member of Korean pop group EXO Kris Wu.

Other recent releases by China Lion Film Distribution include the movies "Breakup Buddies,"  "Back in Time" and "Love on the Cloud."
