Thousands of comic and cartoon lovers swarmed the 13th Jiongjiongyoushen Cartoon and Comic Exhibition held in Beijing on Jan. 18.

Beijing National Covention is host to the 13th Jiongjiongyoushen Cartoon and Comic Exhibition held on Jan. 18, Sunday. The event attracted tens of thousands of comics and cartoon afficionados across China.

The event covered more than 20,000 square meters, enough to accommodate thousands of audiences. The exhibition was divided into different sections providing spaces for an activity, performance and photography area. An autograph area was even set aside for fans to get the autographs of cartoonists.

One of the exhibits featured character dolls from famous cartoon or anime shows. The dolls and action figures came in different sizes and colors, ideal additions for serious collectors among the audience.

Many comic and cartoon afficionados came adorned in costumes, mimicking the characters from popular comic books. Almost like a surreal experience, the event was a wild mixture of make-believe characters.

Fans had a field day trading comic books, buying and selling their wares and collections, and taking pictures of each other. China's popular social media site Sina Webo was littered with posts of pictures from people who attended the event.

Serving as a platform for cartoon and comic fans to showcase and trade their products, the exhibition, now on its 13th showcasing, has evolved into an influential art event in all of China.

The exhibit is conducted more than three occasions each year, with each event attended by more than 20,000 enthusiasts.
