A number of hotels in Beijing were named "The Best Hotel 2015 - Diplomats' Choice" at an awards ceremony held at the Ritz-Carlton Beijing Monday, Jan. 25, the Global Times reported.
The report said that nine categories of awards were announced at the ceremony, with 10 awards presented to representatives of the hotels.
The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, the venue for the ceremony, was conferred the "Best Service Hotel," while Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel was adjudged the "Best F&B Hotel" for its extraordinary cuisine.
Two hotels, China World Hotel Beijing and Park Hyatt Beijing, won the same honor as the "Best Business Hotel."
The title of "Best Meeting Hotel" was given to Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center.
JE Conference Service Center, Shangri-La Hotel Qinhuangdao, Crowne Plaza Beijing Lido and St. Regis Tianjin all received the awards as the "Best Boutique Hotel," the "Best Vacation Hotel," the "Best Relaxing Hotel" and the "Best Design Hotel," respectively.
The report, however, said that the award did not only recognize established brands, as NUO Hotel Beijing received the honor as the "Best Opening Hotel."
According to the report, the award aims to develop an interactive platform for Beijing's diplomats and five-star hotels.
Hundreds of guests that included diplomats, hotel managers, entrepreneurs, media and other guests attended the event.
The report said that this year's awards covered all of the 44 five-star hotels in Beijing, Tianjin and North China's Hebei Province.
To help with this selection of hotels, the organizers have reportedly enlisted prominent people from embassies, enterprises and hospitality organizations. The three groups of judges were composed of the diplomat team, the media team and the professional team.
Each hotel was judged based on its facilities, staff, brand and services, the report added.
The government has announced plans to boost coordinated development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, known as the Jingjinji area. The region is likely to undergo rapid economic development in the coming years, which is expected to boost the local services sector and bring opportunities and challenges to many international brand hotels.
