Fan Bingbing became known to most of the world in her role as Blink in 2014's "X-Men: Days of Future Past."
However, most fans were disappointed when she was not part of the cast in the next movie, "X-Men: Apocalypse." People were expecting Fan Bingbing to reprise her role in the big screen especially after this statement that she mentioned in Star.com as transcribed by Comic Book Movie.
"I am contracted to appear in the next four X-Men films and it's going to be really amazing," she said through a translator. "In 14 years since the X-Men films started, this is the first time an Asian mutant is in the film. So, it's going to be really interesting. In the comics, Blink is a Caucasian girl, so I was curious why Bryan wanted an Asian to play the role. He said that it's time for Blink to make an appearance and, for her debut she has to be simply marvelous. It was an offer I couldn't refuse."
There was no clear explanation on why the character was not part of the roster in the sequel but considering that Blink is a time travelling character and the myriad of directions that the X-Men movies may take, it would not be a surprise to see Fan Bingbing join the mutants again.
It should not be much cause for concern for the Chinese actress as she seems to be busy and earning really well outside of that coveted gig. According to a Forbes list, Bingbing is the fourth highest paid actress in the world, joining the ranks of Jennifer Lawrence (who was also her co-star in "X-Men: Days of Future Past"), Scarlett Johansson, (also a superhero from rival franchise "The Avengers") and comedian Melissa McCarthy.
Bingbing earned a cool $21 million according to Forbes and it also makes her the top earner among Chinese celebrities. She has garnered the distinction for the third straight year besting other big names such as Jay Chou, Nicholas Tse and the legendary Jackie Chan.
Her next project is "The Moon and the Sun" set for release in 2016 opposite Pierce Brosnan where she will play a mermaid.
