Samsung, the technology giant, is still pursuing its plan of acquiring Blackberry Ltd., though reports came out that the two are denying this acquisition rumor, the Financial Post reported.
The report, which was released on Jan. 21, Wednesday, claimed that Samsung is pushing through its plan of buying Blackberry. A source told the publication that "Samsung, at this point, is evaluating the matter. The company isn't closing its doors with the possibility of eventually acquiring the Canada-based mobile device company."
The publication was able to obtain a document specifically prepared for Samsung by Evercore Partners, a NY-based investment bank. This document, outlined in the last quarter of 2014, showed the potential structure of the possible purchase.
"I can, actually, tell you that there is truth in the news that Samsung is wishing to buy Blackberry. Until now, they are still pursuing the Canadian company," said the source, who does not want to be named for confidentiality's sake.
In a previous report by the Digital Trends, both Samsung and Blackberry are denying that they are both in talks of furthering the plan.
The initial "buyout" talks were reported by Reuters, first. Samsung is planning to purchase the Blackberry company for $7.5 billion, primarily because of its patented portfolio.
The news of a probable buyout did good on Blackberry because their share price rose up to 29% more. While the improved share rating is plausible, Blackberry immediately issued a statement of denial, saying that no acquisition talks ever happened between them and Samsung.
