Speculations are rife that "Grand Theft Auto 6" may feature a new setting such as Tokyo or London and that the release is delayed due to unavailability of 4K technology on the gaming consoles.
Game developer Rockstar Studios feels that United States of America is the best setting for the upcoming game, but still a new location setting could be in the offering. According to Value Walk, both the upcoming gaming consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Two will feature 4K visuals, and so Rockstar may be waiting for them to be available before launching the next game in the series with the latest technology.
The delay in the release is also attributed to the departure of Leslie Benzies from Rockstar Studios, according to Kotaku. He played a major role in the development of the previous title, and the Studio is currently seeking a replacement for him, which is not very easy to find.
Benzies left when the original "Grand Theft Auto 5" was released for a simple sabbatical. However, he never returned to the team. This may be the main reason that Rockstar Studios is not divulging any details about the "Grand Theft Auto 6" as yet. This may also be the cause as to why "Grand Theft Auto 5" did not get any major DLC updates after its 2013 release.
Looking at this situation, the upcoming game seems to be inordinately delayed so that the developers can work on the bug removal and minor enhancements for "Grand Theft Auto 5." Fans can expect to see "Grand Theft Auto 6" being released in 2019, and definitely not before that. This implies a long gap of six years after the release of its predecessor in 2013. On the other hand, these dates are not definite as the game developer is yet to announce the commencement of development for the game.
However, this is not the first time that die-hard gamers had to wait for the game. In the past, the "Grand Theft Auto 5" release for the PC console happened in 2015. The PC gamers were left in agony, waiting for two years for the game which was originally released in 2013 for Xbox 360 console and Play Station 4 console.
