The Houston Rockets are obviously seeking improvements to their roster, and they need to search far and wide.

It seems like they searched all the way to China. According to a report, Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) Most Valuable Player and NBA 2nd overall draft pick in 2008 Michael Beasley will sign with the Houston Rockets for the remainder of the season.

The first report came from ESPN's Marc Stein in his Twitter account.

Beasley's possible addition to Houston's "mob" at the power forward spot confirms that they need more offense at the position. They have a swarm of talented but inconsistent players like Josh Smith, Terrence Jones and Montrezl Harrell and Beasley would definitely fall under the "inconsistent" and "unpredictable" category.

However, Beasley definitely showed consistency in China, where he even dominated. Granted, the competition level is way below the NBA but he did learn a new skill, as SB Nation cited.

(Michael Beasley) was averaging nearly 32 points and 13 rebounds per game on 54 percent shooting from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc," reports SB Nation's Tim Cato. "His development into a viable three-point shooter is what made him a target for multiple NBA teams as soon as the Chinese season ended, and it appears the Rockets will end up with the seven-year NBA veteran."

The Miami Heat drafted Beasley in 2008 following a stellar college freshman year. They passed on big names such as Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook for him. Aside from inconsistency, Beasley had off court issues as well. The Heat hired him late last season but chose not to re-sign him in the offseason, and he eventually ended up in China.

NBC notes that Beasley is far from being the "savior" of the Rockets, and realistically, he might not contribute that much. Still, he is a legit MVP in a league with former NBA players like Andray Blatche and Stephon Marbury.

With the Rockets locked in a tight race for the eighth playoff spot with the Utah Jazz, they need any form of help and if there's one GM willing to gamble on Beasley, it would be Daryl Morey.
