The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will begin rolling out this March but Apple fans will need to wait a few more months for their bet as the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus release date is not expected until fall of 2016. Between now and September, Apple has ample time to think about the upgrades it will deploy with the next iPhone and many are hoping the device will unbox with features similar to that of the Galaxy S7.
The iPhone maker can perhaps consider the list below:
Basic 64GB model
With the Galaxy S6, Samsung dumped the 16GB flagship model and offered instead a welcome 32GB basic storage configuration. And things got only better with the Galaxy S7 this 2016 as the handset brought back the memory card slot that permits storage expansion of up to 200GB.
While Apple is unlikely to produce a smartphone with a microSD slot, the tech giant should at least ditch the 16GB iPhone and upsize the basic model to 64GB, which should upstage Samsung and make millions of Apple fans euphoric.
Easier to handle phablet iPhone
It appears that there is no turning back, for now, the phablet trend and Apple seems to agree with its 5.5-inch iPhone 6S Plus. Early reviewers of the Galaxy S7 Edge marveled at its supersized profile but incredibly easy-to-handle build, thanks to the obviously well-thought engineering. This is one feature that Apple needs to present with the phablet iPhone that is rumored to morph into the iPhone Pro.
Killer cameras
The iPhone Pro is reported to exclusively unpack with a dual-camera system, which experts said will render the main shooter with near DSLR-class capabilities. While Apple is at it, the company should strongly consider using the same Canon shooting technology found on the Galaxy S7 that gave the device superfast autofocus.
Waterproofing
With the GS7, Samsung resurrected the waterproofing protection that it skipped with the Galaxy S6, which Apple need to pack with its next iPhone. Rumors say that the iPhone 6S has some form of water resistant features, which Apple can then make a fact in time for the iPhone 7 launch.
Bigger battery
Sure, slim is gorgeous and sexy on a phone but many iPhone fans have declared that they don't mind a slight bulk in exchange for a bigger battery, which certainly will lead to longer operating hours. Samsung bumped up the battery juice in the S7 and S7 Edge with larger packs and it will not hurt Apple to follow the same path.
And wireless charging
Almost all Android flagships are into wireless charging with the bonus of quick recharging. Apple is very late into the game and it is high time the tech giant join the fun come the 2016 iPhones touchdown.
OLED display
Rumors picked up by Apple Insider indicate that Apple is indeed switching to OLED and the iPhone push in 2017 will be first to benefit. Why not make it 2016 since the technology is available from Samsung, which should be happy to supply the same Galaxy S7 panel, regarded by mobile display experts as the best around, in time for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus release date.
