The rumored Nexus 7 2016 release date by Google could be near as more signs have emerged that point to the Pure Android tablet unboxing. Reports said that the public invites for the 2016 Google I/O in May are going out soon and the Nexus 5X and 6P are put on sale.
The Nexus 5X and 6P becoming more buyer-friendly, with the Google Play Store and other key retailers like Amazon and Best Buy offering discounts of up to $100, appears to be the most solid indicator of a soon-to-come product launch from the Nexus maker. It has been a practice in the past that in preparing for the next version of a device, the old models are being pushed out and the fastest way of doing so is dangling killer deals.
But in Google's case, one more thing could signify an upcoming product release. Rumors say that one of the Nexus 2016 devices could be presented on stage at the Google I/O Developers Conference edition this year. The event is confirmed to kick off May 18 and the limited public invites seem to be on their way out.
According to 9to5Google, tickets for the occasion will soon be out but first the lottery process for the select few attendees will have to be finalized. The report noted that "the process typically happens in waves," so the invites will be deployed in batches.
For recipients, slot for the I/O will cost $900 but students need only to pay up $300. Google said that during the gathering, attendees will "learn about our latest product innovations and dive deep into code, all while networking with your peers and Google engineers," 9to5Google reported.
Now it remains unclear what exactly are the Google products and services that see revelation at the 2016 I/O but speculations are rife that it will be all about Android N and the first device it will power - a tablet known for now as Nexus 7 2016.
As the name implies, it is a 7-inch slate that likely will run on Snapdragon 810 chip with up to 3GB of RAM. And courtesy of Android N, the compact Nexus tablet is optimized for productivity with multitasking features like Split Window and extended battery life with the help of native Android app Doze.
The chatters on the third Nexus 7 tablet indicate that that maker is Huawei on the account of the Chinese company's fine performance with the Nexus 6P but there are suggestions too that device will come in two sizes with the labels Nexus 7X and Nexus 8P floating around.
If indeed the Nexus 7 2016 is revealed via the Google I/O this year and Android N is made official during the same event, then the Pure Android release date could happen as early as June 2016.
