"Cleanin' Out My Closet" is one of the most successful songs recorded by Detroit rapper Marshall Mathers III, who is professionally known as Eminem. The song is known for its opening, in which the rapper says, "Where's my snare? There's no snare in my headphones."
Recently, Eminem revealed the truth behind the infamous ad-lib. In the lyric annotation of "Cleanin' Out My Closet" on Genius, Eminem wrote, "This was true. I was recording and couldn't hear the snare, the engineer had it muted for some reason. I kept it."
The lyrics of the song indicates how Eminem hated the way his mother Debbie Mathers raised him. He apologizes to her for hurting her and making her cry but he sarcastically takes it back.
The song was released on Sept. 17, 2002 as the second single from Eminem's fourth studio album titled "The Eminem Show." The album includes 20 tracks including "Without Me" and "Say Goodbye Hollywood" as well as the collaboration songs "When the Music Stops" featuring D12, "Drips" featuring Obie Trice, "Superman" featuring Dina Rae, "Say What You Say" featuring Dr. Dre and "Till I Collapse" featuring Nate Dogg.
"The Eminem Show" was released on May 21, 2002 by Aftermath Records, Interscope Records and Shady Records. It also includes "Hailie's Song" and a collaboration song titled "My Dad's Gone Crazy" featuring Hailie Jade.
Eminem has won one Academy Award and 15 Grammy Awards. He has released eight studio album and he is reportedly releasing his ninth studio album soon.
Meanwhile, James Todd Smith, who is professionally known as LL Cool J, recently talked about his much-awaited collaboration song with Eminem. In an interview with Billboard, the "Lip Sync Battle" host said, "He actually did his vocals and everything."
LL Cool J is aware that "the world has been waiting" for the collaboration song and he wants the fans to "get it the right way." He also promised that the song is going to be "amazing" and said the Detroit rapper is his friend so they will "definitely get it poppin'."
