Over the Easter weekend, producers of “Descendants of the Sun” released two more songs from the soundtrack, bringing to six the total released. These are “With You” and “Once Again.”
“With You,” sang by Lyn, already had more than 400,000 hits since it was released on March 23. The 4-minute, 10-second video begins with dramatic scenes between the two lead stars and then shows their army duties, but returns to romantic scenes between Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo. The haunting melody talks of always forgiving which is what love is all about.
The second song, “Once Again,” runs for 3 minutes and 55 seconds. Since it was released on March 17, it had reached almost 500,000 views. Performed by Mad Clown and Kim Na Young, the video, this time features the other couple of the 16-episode Korean drama, Jin Goo and Kim Ji Win.
Based on the comments posted on YouTube, the couple too has its share of fans.
Dar Skirata wrote that she loves the pair more than the lead stars because “I can feel the war going on in his head whenever he retreats behind his stoic protection wall.” Teti Ayu added that she keeps watching the show because of the feel of this couple.
Richard Li shared that when he started to watch the drama, he thought the two were the main characters because they were given prominence during the first episode. However, after a few episodes, they were confirmed as support cast. “It turns out it was just another drama with the typical confident male lead and annoying female lead. Quite disappointing considering how much hype this music video gave,” Li stated.
The soundtrack has helped boost the popularity of the drama, not only in South Korea where it is seen over KBS 2TV, and China where it is viewed over video platform iQiyi, but also in 19 other countries where the drama is available in 33 languages.
Because of the drama, Song Joong-ki has replaced Lee Min-ho, star of “Hallyul” as the most popular Korean drama actor in China. The Asian giant also eased its very strict policy on airing foreign TV dramas for “Descendants of the Stars” because the production was reportedly partially funded by Chinese investors, according to Newseveryday.
