Miami Heat To Host LeBron's Superteam; How It Can Happen

The Miami Heat has assembled a "superteam" before, so it has the tools to do so again.

Despite the bittersweet ending that saw LeBron James in a fit after being demolished by the San Antonio Spurs, the Miami Heat still has much of the tools that led them to four straight Finals appearances and two championships.

Pat Riley is still the ringmaster, Erik Spoelstra is still the coach and the weather is still warm, suited to Carmelo Anthony's preference.

LeBron James was quoted by Bleacher Report that he wanted to form to play with Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul before they retire.

"I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together," James said. "At least one, maybe one or two seasons-me, Melo, D-Wade, CP-we can get a year in. I would actually take a pay cut to do that."

Then, Carmelo Anthony also chimed in, but he added some details: "late in our careers, before we retire, someplace warm."

Both CP3 and Wade are playing at someplace warm, but there is a chance that Melo, Wade and LeBron won't be too cordial with Doc Rivers-just too many Boston Celtics clashes between them.

This leaves Miami, a place that LeBron once picked over his hometown, as the probable candidate.

In an SB Nation piece, Jesus Gomez listed the Heat as possible hosts for the superteam, with Pat Riley most likely flashing his rings to Melo and CP3, the two players with empty fingers (and most likely remain so at the end of the 2015-16 season).

While they mentioned that this should be late in their careers, one look at the current situation of all the other teams will show loads of discontent. The Cavaliers are on "championship or bust mode," the Clippers are, in Doc Rivers own words, on the edge of becoming "stale" and the Knicks will miss the playoffs for the third straight season.

So how can the Heat acquire assemble these players as only Wade and James are free agents?

Step one would be addressing Wade's situation, as it will take off his cap hold. Next, LeBron James, an offer of $21 million (quite a significant pay cut, but he said he'd agree to that), then the Heat are halfway there.

The Heat would have to make trades and they have players that could get Melo and CP3. Chris Bosh would be appropriate trade bait for Carmelo, but he needs to get a clean bill of health from his blood problem. That might be the only snag.

For Paul, the Heat can dangle Goran Dragic, a more than capable point guard. But he's not the best as CP3 is, so he might need to add Justise Winslow. It's a tough sacrifice but you are forming probably the strongest team ever assembled.

In today's era, though, having a talented foursome would not guarantee a title as teams like the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs have destroyed LeBron-led Big Threes in the past two seasons. But this team will definitely be the biggest draw in pro sports if they pull it off.
