In what was supposed to be a romantic proposal, a girlfriend died by falling over a cliff after her boyfriend proposed to her for marriage.
The tragic incident occurred at Cala Tarida within the west coast of Ibiza on a lunchtime Jan. 27, Tuesday, according to the Daily Mail.
The local police said that Dimitrina Dimitrova lost her balance by excitedly jumping up and down after her boyfriend proposed at the cliff.
The girlfriend came from Bulgaria and the boyfriend singled out the beauty spot, which is popular for its views of the sunset, solely for the romantic proposal.
However, the 29-year-old did not die because of the fall itself, but rather from cardiac arrest due to her fatal injuries after falling 65 feet from the cliff.
Dimitrova was found unconscious but still alive when the paramedics came to rescue her, however she died on the spot after a few minutes.
"Everything is pointing towards the death being the result of a tragic freak accident," a spokesman from the local Civil Guard said.
The boyfriend lived and worked at a nearby place from the resort. Dimitrova came from overseas to visit him and to go job hunting for herself, according to a U.K.-based news site Metro.
It was not the first time that a couple-related accident within the region. On August 2014, a couple from Poland also fell at a cliff edge in one of the famous spots in Portugal's Cabo da Roca while the pair was trying to take a selfie.
