Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is presently rolling out to Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2.
According to Xperia Blog, Sony is currently rolling out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 devices.
The new update is rolling out to the Xperia Z3 Compact with model number D5803, the Xperia Z3 with model number D6603 and Xperia Z2 with model number D6503. The firmware comes with build number 23.5.A.0.570.
The new update includes February Android security patch and the Camera 2.0.0 user interface. Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 users with other models will have to wait till the firmware is ready for their particular variant. It is not known when that will happen.
Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone was released in September 2014. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset and it has 3GB of RAM. The device has 16GB of internal storage. Users can expand the internal storage via a microSD card.
Sony Xperia Z3 features a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 pixels x 1920 pixels. It sports a 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera and a 20.7-megapixel primary camera on the back, Digital Trends reported. .
Moreover, people with carrier versions of the aforementioned Xperia handsets will have to wait longer as extra testing generally delays the process.
It is important to note that not all global markets where the three Xperia devices are available are receiving the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update now. According to several reports, the new update is rolling out to these devices in Latin America, the Middle East, North Africa, Russia, Ukraine and the United States.
Reports suggest that those in other markets may receive the Android 6.0.1 update in the next few days.
The roll-out process is staged in phases, therefore, it will take some time for the over-the-air update to reach every corner of the world.
For starters, Android M brings the much-required Doze power saving feature. The search giant Google has said that the Doze feature will extend battery life by 30% depending on the internal hardware of the device .
Also, if reports are anything to go by, the Sony SmartWatch 3 is finally getting the Android Marshmallow update. Google's Wayne Piekarski said that the OTA update will be available to everyone within one week or so.
