Square Enix teased at last week's "Final Fantasy" event that the slick, black Cadillac in "Final Fantasy XV" will be capable of sprouting wings and taking to the sky. The good news for "Final fantasy XV" fans is that they will also be able to pilot the flying car.
Square Enix has confirmed to Game Informer that the flying car will be fully controllable, just like the previous airships of the franchise. Nevertheless, the piloting will not be very straightforwardly easy.
First of all, the player's elevation will not necessarily mean that they will cross the map in a short time. Rather, it seems that the player will have some of his efforts to offer. For example, when it comes to landing, they will do more than just tap a "Land" button and so getting back on the ground could possibly become a challenge.
"Final Fantasy" random encounters like the Deathgaze in "Final Fantasy VI" will not, however, be considered in "Final Fantasy XV." "Final Fantasy XV" director Hajime Tabata told Game Informer that the developer does not plan on placing enemies in the sky, and that the flying car will only be meant for transportation purposes only.
Therefore, this means that players will not necessarily get worried in the sky over landing challenges. Nevertheless, they will not get the flying car early or easily. As the director revealed to the publication, the flying regalia will only get obtained at the end of the game as an additional test. After a player meets all the conditions required, then their car will transform into a flying model.
According to Destructoid, the flying car may not seem to fit perfectly in the "Final Fantasy" universe, but gaming analysts consider it as sensibly right because it has a lot of significance in the storyline. The car belongs to Noctis's father, who remains in Insomnia city as Noctis himself sets out for his journey at the beginning.
The flying Regalia, in this sense, is symbolic of Noctis' father's presence and assistance, even when he is not by Noctis' side. According to Tabata, the Regalia is indispensable in "Final Fantasy XV" and so the franchise had to take it to the sky as well.
Square Enix plans to reveal more about the Regalia in "Final Fantasy XV's" Sep. 30 launch.
