"Teen Wolf" fans were devastated when Arden Cho confirmed that her character Kira will no longer be part of the hit MTV series when it returns for a sixth season. The actress explained that there is no longer room for her character come "Teen Wolf" season 6.
"It's been an amazing almost three-and-a-half years. But unfortunately it looks like we are wrapped up with Kira's storyline and she won't be coming back for season 6," Cho explained.
Cho shared that with so many characters on "Teen Wolf," there were just not enough room for everyone. She, however, admitted that she was hoping to give justice to Kira and flesh out details of her story even more. The actress also mentioned that she is not closing any doors and is hopeful to return to "Teen Wolf" sometime in the future.
"I do wish we would've developed a little bit more of her powers and the skinwalkers and just - there would've been more of like an epic ending, but you never know with 'Teen Wolf.' People might come back. It is what it is," she said.
In the "Teen Wolf" season 5 finale, Kira decided to return to the desert, in an attempt to learn how to control her powers from the Skinwalkers. Kira told Scott (Tyler Posey) that she did not know how long they would keep her there. While Kira's story did not end with a cliffhanger, fans of the MTV series cannot help but hope that Kira and Scott's relationship was given more closure than that.
Cho's departure from "Teen Wolf" season 6 definitely surprised many following executive producer Jeff Davis' statement that viewers will get to see more of Kira and the difficult path she has chosen with the Skinwalkers in the coming episodes. Speaking to TV Line, Davis hinted that there will be a big episode involving Kira and her mother.
"We wanted to see her with her mother in the desert, to make sure we gave her a full episode to explore her character," he explained.
MTV has yet to comment on the Cho's sudden departure. "Teen Wolf" season 6 premieres July 9.
