Beyoncé sent ripples in the music world over the weekend when she unveiled her latest mysterious artwork "Lemonade." The event is supposed to air on HBO on April 23.
With the project being billed as "world premiere event," the singer's fans are reportedly getting anxious as they have to wait for another five days filled with speculation and rumors since not much information is availabe about it. While some fans reportedly believe that "Lemonade" is actually a film or a video, it is also being said that it is actually a live concert.
However, an HBO executive confided in USA Today that "Lemonade" is actually a docu-style special, similar to her 2014 special "Life Is But A Dream."
Beehive, as Beyoncé's fans love to call themselves, were taken by surprise when the singer took to Instagram to post two cryptic teasers over the weekend. The extended trailer was released a day later on April 17, Sunday, by the singer as well as HBO, which later led to #Lemonade becoming a Twitter trend.
As the trailer begins, Beyoncé's blonde braids and a fur coat is seen covering her face before split-second flashes of dark images of a single light in an abandoned room, an empty car park, looming storm clouds and an empty cornfield. As the trailer moves on, the singer's voice-over can be heard saying "Why can't you see me?" and "You're the love of my life."
This is not the first time that Beyoncé is being top-secretive about her upcoming project. Back in 2013, she dropped a self-titled album unannounced in which she combined the music with a series of short films. The "Crazy In Love" hit maker followed the similar tactic in February too when released her new single "Formation," that she also performed at Super Bowl performance.
Meanwhile, Beyoncé's new album has been rumored for months now, with fans even speculating about its tracklist carrying collaborations with Adele, Frank Ocean, FKA Twigs, Kendrick Lamar and Mariah Carey, The Guardian reported. However, it is still unclear if the upcoming special will include any music videos or songs from her long-awaited album.
The singer's HBO event comes just days before the launch of her world tour, which will kick off on April 27 in Miami. Watch the extended trailer of "Lemonade" below"
