Elizabeth Banks will star as the iconic villainous character of Rita Repulsa in the soon-to-be released "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot. The franchise was earlier only for small screens about the struggle of five teens and alien menaces, and now have expanded to feature in theatres.
According to Entertainment Weekly, a recent teaser image was released by Lionsgate, where the 42-year-old actress was seen dressed in an alien costume, with a perfect portrayal of the witch protagonist. She will be seen dressed in a very edgy outfit in a green accents with a sleek headgear, which will have gold outlines. She will also be sporting a ponytail held in green rope, which will make her look every bit devilish combined with her flex muscle action.
The new role is said to revive the original Rita Repulsa with a modern and edgy twist, who will be now fit to portray as an alien warrior. The film is expected to show some awesome action from the alien witch. Banks also made a statement to People Magazine about her upcoming role, wherein she revealed that she is pretty excited to play an alien warrior and looking forward to her role. She further added that she has never portrayed the character of a villain before and she is really thrilled to bring forth some action in her evil role.
The role of Rita Repulsa is reported to be intense and power packed, as she will be expected to conquer Earth. For reviving the original Rita Repulsa, the film will showcase her character's back-story to be able to connect with her new Rangers.
The five new stars were also revealed by Lionsgate in their brand new costumes during last month's promotional launch. They reportedly looked like a bunch of school kids having fun while hanging out on a rock. The film will star Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Becky G as the Yellow Ranger and Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger.
Compared to the 90's counterpart, "Power Rangers" reboot is going to be tense and modern in its entire look and feel with no bulky costumes and a different direction. The movie is expected to hit theatres on March 24, 2017.
