Magic Leap has suddenly become an internet sensation after a tech website first brought it to the world's focus as a formidable Microsoft's HoloLens rival. Augmented Reality has entered a whole new era and Microsoft is no more the lone racer in the technology.
After famous tech journalist, Kevin Kelly wrote an article on Wired, the new startup Magic Leap became an overnight internet hit. But where the new HoloLens competitor is spicing up the technology world, it has also left many questions waiting to be answered.
According to the news site, the reason Magic Leap did not show up early in the headlines is because the company was deliberately traveling under the radar. But in that duration, it managed to fundraise over a billion dollar investment from large companies like Google and Andreesen Horowitz.
As more of the Magic Leap mysteries are unfolding, more chunks of information are coming to the knowledge of the public. Based on Kelly's article, Magic Leap's AR technology is not exactly a HoloLens, but something more advanced and better.
Magic Leap is developing a new augmented reality device, but people want to know when will it arrive in the mark. Microsoft HoloLens developer version is already will soon start shipping and it is much more established than its new rival. For instance, it is backed up by a successful operating system: Windows 10. On the other hand, Magic Leap's HoloLens killer is yet to see the light of the day.
There is also much anticipation about Magic Leap's HoloLens device when it comes to the technological details. However, there is still no word on its hardware, software or even its design. Furthermore, the rising Microsoft rival company has not even released the details about the platform the device will use or connect to.
"Is there an app platform? Is there a Netflix app? What's the Gmail integration like? So, you know, how does that work? What did the camera rig look like? Did they really just mount the glasses on the front of a DLSR?" The Verge highlighted some basic questions about Magic Leap.
Virtual reality and augment reality is much easier to achieved compared to the mixed reality or MR and it is also more powerful both the technologies. The following YouTube video by Magic Leap shows how it would look in routine life.
